Overview

Columbia has been iterating the Bugaboo since before shaped skis, and the fifth generation keeps the value formula intact. The Omni-Tech shell is genuinely waterproof with critically taped seams, and the interior uses Columbia’s Omni-Heat reflective lining, a field of tiny silver dots that bounces body heat back at you. Combined with 60 grams of synthetic fill, it makes the Bugaboo warmer than its weight suggests.

Snow gaiters, an adjustable waist, zippered hand pockets, and a wide size range (including big-and-tall options) complete the package. The fabric is softer and less abrasion-resistant than the pricier picks in our guide, and there are no thigh vents, but at this price those are honest, predictable trades.

Key specs: Omni-Tech waterproof-breathable shell | Omni-Heat reflective lining | 60g Microtemp insulation | Snow gaiters | Adjustable waist | Big & tall sizes available
